Provide a brief personal summary (can include information about family, hobbies, etc.).

I grew up on a dairy farm south of Plymouth where I learned to overcome challenges and apply myself to any problems that might arise. I attend St Michael’s Church and completed 8 years at St Michael School before attending Plymouth High School. While a senior at PHS I was in the first aviation class offered to students as a part of the school curriculum through the efforts of Don Palbykin of Skystream Airlines at Plymouth Airport. After High School I attended Purdue University studying Engineering. I was drafted in 1972 for the Vietnam conflict and was trained as a Military Police officer. I served in Heidleberg Germany with the 529th Military Police Honor Guard. Prior to reporting to Germany I married Jan Ousnamer Houin and we spent a year and a half honeymooning in Europe. We traveled to 17 countries before I was discharged from the military to return to Purdue and complete my studies. Since then through a combination of work and pleasure I have traveled to 4 continents and 32 countries and still fly privately on a regular basis. Jan and I have 4 children and 10 grandchildren and we have lived in the same house for 35 years and have been married for 46 years.

Provide any additional information you would like to share with the community.

Plymouth and my roots in Marshall County have been good to me and I enjoy giving back to the community be it through Church, School, 4-H, Operation: Quiet Comfort and other organizations.
