Oak Hill Cemeteries
Rules and Regulation for Oak Hill Cemeteries with the exception of Gracelawn Section
- All monuments and markers shall be in one line on the front or on the back edge of the lot or lots as originally laid out.
- No monument or marker which extends above the surface of the ground, shall be erected on a single grave lot if its width exceeds thirty inches (30"), (government soldier marker excepted), or erected on two or more grave lots if the width of said monument or markers more than sixty percent (60%) of the frontage of lots, based on the size of the lot or lots at the time of the original sale thereof. Flush markers may be placed on the grave lot or lots in addition to the markers or monument which extend above the ground.
- All shrubs and other ornamental plantings shall be planted on a line extended through the center of the monument and parallel with the front edge of the lot.
- All flowers shall be planted either as in paragraph 3 or against the monument or marker.
- No shrubs or other ornamental plantings shall be allowed to grow so as to extend over the lines of the owner's cemetery lot or lots as originally purchased from the city.
- No mausoleum shall be placed on cemetery lots in the New Oak Hill Cemetery which lots do not contain a total of at least 400 square feet.
- Each mausoleum erected in said New Oak Hill Cemetery shall be at least three feet from the lot line to the sides of the mausoleum and three feet from the front line of the lot to the front edge of the mausoleum. Any consent to a variation from the rule must be given by the Common Council of the City in a regular session.
- All artificial floral arrangements must be either mounted to the monument or markers, or must be in metal or concrete containers.
- No artificial lawn or garden ornaments, such as artificial animals, potteries, plastic fence, ect., will be permitted. Ornaments which constitute nuisances to the proper maintaining of the cemetery grounds may be removed by the cemetery superintendent.
- No aggregate, crushed stone or loose materials shall be placed on the lots.
